I have been wanting to try Hiro ever since it opened, but live all the way at the beach. My sister was in town and wanted something authentic. Hiro did not disappoint! This has to be the most authentic Japanese restaurant in town! Server was very attentive, food was delicious, and the chef was very sweet to check on all the tables. We ordered okonomiyaki(best I’ve had), karaage, chawanmushi, shrimp tempura, chirashi bowl, sushi dinner, nigiri, and udon soup. Chirashi bowl and udon soup were served in traditional containers. Please give them a try!

All of our sushi rolls were amazing and the okonomiyaki was yummy! It was our first time in and it was lovely. Very clean, very kind staff, and the Chef came by to say hello and make sure everything was good! They have trivia, bingo, and karaoke nights too! I can’t wait to come back with some friends. We stumbled onto an amazing spot.

sat at the sushi counter with the chef, he was very kind and seemed to know most of the patrons since they were all regulars! seems like a great neighborhood spot, tucked away with this quiet Publix. first time coming and won't be the last!!! affordable for the high quality. sushi rice was cooked perfectly. loved the spicy salmon sushi taco, which is just a non-conical hand roll. the spicy sauce on top had a great depth of flavor and 4/5 heat level, loved it!! not pictured was the amaebi, which the chef eagerly offered to fry the shrimp head after we enjoyed the sashimi. so excited to try more!

I love to support family owned businesses and I have found a gem for Japanese cuisine! Located at 10920 Baymeadows Rd #30, Jacksonville, FL 32256 you will find the Hiro Japanese restaurant. This is in the Publix shopping center at I-295 and Baymeadows Road. I was drawn to it by it's well deserved 4.7 rating on Google. I missed getting pictures the first visit so I went back the next day with the goal of capturing the beautiful food to share here. On the first visit I started with a eel and cucumber roll. All the rolls are freshly made when you order and you can tell. It was not dry and tasted wonderful! My main also came with clear soup what was so good! My main was the salmon and shrimp hibachi combo which came with 6 shrimp and 4oz of beautiful salmon along with stir fried vegetables and soba noodles. The noodles were season with something that sort of tastes like Old Bay but isn't Old Bay. There was a mushroom in my second meal that had the same flavor so I think it is seasoned with that. The curry katsu is very tasty and the nabeyaki udon hit the spot. One of the best takoyaki I have had in town. We will definitely return for the Omakase! Update: came back and tried the okonomyaki and of course had to have to takoyaki. Food was good, as expected. The sushi chef overheard us saying happy birthday to someone on our table and he brought out a deep fried cheese cake with a candle on it. It made our dining experience even better
